deutsch class: what a gas

today was my first day of my language course. and what a laugh.
i take the train into augsburg, about a 25 minute ride, after de-boarding, i walk about 13 minutes through the city to my school building. i ring the bell to get buzzed in, and walk up 5 flights of very old wooden stairs.

the class room is small, nothing special. chairs and tables and white walls and posters about learning. however, the windows are fantastic for day dreaming.

my class has a total of 9 people in it. if you took a picture, it would be put in any language text book in the u.s. because of the eclectic racial backgrounds, so its really "p.c." looking. the idea of this often makes me laugh.

there are 2 turkish women. one in her mid-late 20's and drop dead gorgeous. the other is about 70 or older and can not read or write. (sadz, she'll probably have to drop.) 1 boy from japan named leo. a russian woman, probably about 60. she's my favorite. she's so enthusiastic about learning! a man from india, early 20's, named georgie. then there is larena, an ungodly (UNGODLY) gorgeous 24 year old girl from madrid, she met her boyfriend in oklahoma, of all places, on a study abroad to learn english. he is german. she is now here living with him. another girl, alexia, is greek and 18. she is learning german to go study medicine in munich next year. alexia, larena and i get along really really well and are going out for coffee tomorrow after class. i'm so excited. both so sweet and good senses of humor, etc.

i forgot rikki, rikki is a 20 year old girl from california and a total ass hole. i have no desire to get to know her. i tried. i dont think that's her real name. ass hole.

and then i'm teal from the u.s.a and i'm also really awkward. hi.

the class is 4 hours long, and i'm taking it 4 days a week, even though it is supposed to be 5. i will be au pairing on the day i dont go. but it's okay. it's better this way.

i really like augburg. its a big city, considering. lots of good shopping and cafes out the ass. will explore more with each day. found a store that has awful scarves for one euro each today. woo! i bought two.

i really enjoy taking the train. gives me more time to myself to think and write or do homework or whatever. i thought i really wanted to drive, but i'm glad i don't. this gives me so much more time and so many more excuses.

today, however, the temperature PLUMMETED. 6.6 degrees celsius. (about 44 fahrenheit.) I'M SO COLDZ. i did not bring enough warmzies. i need sockiez and shirtziez and mittenz and warm. i almost gave up writing this because i'm so coldz. and my nose! my leetle nose. so chillz.

so until i get some mittens...
