on taking initiative.

my homepage is cnn.com, and today upon opening 'the internet', i was greeted with this story:

Island DIY: Kauai residents don't wait for state to repair road

[click.click.read.]
it's what i was talking about in an earlier post about president obama's election. how what america needs is to end its fucking government codependency. to come together as a people. country. neighborhood. what-have-you. and say: these are the problems. this is where we are affected most. this is what needs to get done.

and we just get it done.

i was talking with my mother today over my financial woes, and told her i would need to take some money out of my college account to pay for my language school fees... i was then shocked by the state of things (because its in some sort of mutual fund... see also: i'm totally fucked.) she said, 'don't worry. it will all come back eventually. it has to."

and i said, 'no, mom! no it won't just come back! why does everyone keep saying that?!'

why does everyone keep saying that? i mean, besides the morale boost.

this community in hawaii said, 'fuck that shit, we need public access to that park in order to keep the local economy going. take your time, state govsies. we're doing this shit with or with out you. we can not wait.'

they didn't say, 'oh, it will get done...it has to.'

they got what was estimated to take almost 2 years and 4 million in tax dollars done in less than two weeks and donation time/resources.

this is the change i hope that america voted for.

less government. more action.

community is about to make a come back.

i feel inspired by this. please share it with everyone you know. and do what you can with in your own communities to inspire this change/realization of what we are capable of, instead of the crutch we've become all too dependent upon.

from where now?

the only thing wrong about this little righteousness is that it doesn't involve human nature or behavior.

but you have stopped me dead in my tracks for at least ten minutes or so.

moving along now...

rhan,

i must agree on the lack of human nature.

however, if i decided to embark upon that, it would end up being a somewhat never-ending spew of emotion, questioning, and over all self contradicting when i really wanted to fashion a brief political point.

(which, of course, i failed at as well because emotion and foul language ceased to cease.)

but yes, i agree. and whee of human nature. and community.
